What do you get when you add a camera, a super-catchy top-40 tune, a couple hundred students and unbelievable talent? For dozens of high schools across the country, this combination is the perfect recipe for viral lip-dubs. If you haven't seen a lip-dub before, expect something that looks straight out of Glee or High School Musical: bright-eyed jocks, cheerleaders, drama kids, and the rest of the student body lip-syncing to high-octane pop songs while dancing enthusiastically through hallways and into their school gyms. Most of these videos are filmed in an impressive one shot, creating a cool, continuous effect.
The trend kicked off last year, when Palo Verdes High School created an incredible lip-dub to Nicki Minaj & Will.I.Am's "Check It Out." From there, the trend exploded to include high schools and colleges across the country - even Lady Gaga got in on the action. Earlier this month, State College Area High School in Pennsylvania took it to the next level by creating a feel-good 12-minute lip dub -- the collective effort of 1,800 students -- that mashes up Queen's "Dont' Stop Me Know" and "We Are Young" by Mika.
