Lisa Ling's Home Holds Secrets To Stress-Free Living (PHOTOS)

Our favorite journalist works hard, lives light.

We talk a lot about how to live with less stress, but it turns out we could have just asked Lisa Ling. The OWN journalist opened her Santa Monica home to Savvy Sugar, and we were in awe of its very calming effect.

Ling’s first noteworthy tip is, when you’re decorating, make sure you focus on "you." By this she means creating a place that reflects your hobbies, interests and passions. For example, since she and her husband love to read, she has lined her living room shelves with books upon books. "The most important part of making your home an oasis is personalizing it to your own tastes,” she said.

She also recommends avoiding clutter, embracing nature and creating comfort zones in your homes. To achieve these goals, Ling suggests setting up a cleaning schedule, decorating with plants and creating a place to unwind. For her own home, she has created a sunken outdoor lounge that she uses as a place to relax. And inside, she’s decorated with colors that brighten her mood and says textiles are an easy way to “breathe new life into a home.”

Ling is currently working with IKEA’s Life Improvement Project, a program designed to help people make positive choices at home. Click through our slideshow to see photos of Ling’s home and head over to Savvy Sugar to read more.
