
Most people associate Listerine with bad breath, but it was invented as a cure for gonorrhea.
That was 133 years ago, and besides being a cure for VD, it has been marketed to treat sweaty feet, colds and even as an additive to cigarettes. It was only in the 1920s that the powerful, germ-killing liquid finally landed on its most lucrative use as a magical cure for bad breath.
But Listerine isn't the only product invented for one thing that turned out to be better for something else.
