Festival season is finally cooling down -- along with the temperatures -- but don't let that stop you from checking out some amazing live shows next month! From indie rock, to R&B, to alternative, here are 3 of the best shows happening around the Thanksgiving holiday this year.

WHO: EL VY
WHEN: November 13th
WHERE: Bowery Ballroom, New York, NY
WHY: Even though you may not have heard of EL VY yet, you might recognize the vocal talents of The National's Matt Berninger on their new single "Return to the Moon." His quirky side project (a collaboration with Menomena's Brent Knopf) releases its debut album today (October 30), and already has the interwebs buzzing. It's catchy, familiar indie-rock at its finest, full of dark humor and playful riffs. Don't miss EL VY on their first ever tour this fall -- and if you plan to be in NY next month, catch their gig at the historic Bowery Ballroom on November 13th.

WHO: Andra Day
WHEN: November 14th
WHERE: Hollywood Cemetary, Los Angeles, CA
WHY: Rising R&B star Andra Day is on a roll -- in the last 3 months she's released her critically acclaimed debut album, a Spike-Lee directed music video, and just wrapped up an opening slot on tour for Lenny Kravitz. Her sound channels some of the great soul artists of the last century, and combines powerful vocals and lyrics into a contemporary retro sound. Her music has a timeless quality, and the industry has begun to take notice. Day is a powerhouse live, and stretches her small catalogue out with surprise guests and old-school covers. Check out her sophisticated throwback sound in this fall on November 14th @ the Hollywood Cemetary in Los Angeles.

WHO: Lanterns On the Lake
WHEN: November 30th
WHERE: The Haunt, Brighton, UK
WHY: UK indie-rock band Lanterns on the Lake create beautiful, multi-layered music with a deeper message -- often writing about personal hardships, spiritual and political conflicts. This translates to their live shows, giving them a tangible connection with the audience and adding real depth to their often stripped-down sound. The band has a highly anticipated new record coming out next month, so if you have plans to be in the UK don't miss the chance to check out their new tunes live!
