Festival season may be finally winding down, but there is still plenty of great live music happening all over the country. We've seen a ton of excellent artists emerge this summer -- here are our top three picks to keep your eye on this fall.
WHO: Rachel Platten
WHEN: September 27th, Brooklyn Bowl -- Brooklyn, NY
WHY: Budding songstress Rachel Platten's new single "Fight Song", has been hard to miss this summer. The catchy anthem led to major record deal for Platten and a very public shoutout from Taylor Swift, which helped propel it to #6 on the Billboard Hot 100 Chart last month. Platten's full length debut is due in December, and we can't wait to hear more from this honest, refreshing pop star. Her live shows are pure fun -- if you are in the NYC area this fall be sure to check her out at a benefit show on Sept 27th @ the Brooklyn Bowl.
WHO: Chris Baio
WHEN: September 15th, The Echo, Los Angeles, CA
WHY: The first single from Vampire Weekend bassist Chris Baio's solo effort, Sister of Pearl, immediately catches you with its quirky, catchy harpsichord-like synth sound. And Baio's debut album, The Names (due this September) promises to be full of equally addictive tunes. It's indie-pop at its finest -- reminiscent of his work with Vampire Weekend but with a bit more range and spunk. Live, Baio puts on a stellar party that can't be missed - so be sure to grab tickets to his LA show on September 15th.
WHO: Years and Years
WHEN: September 28th, The Fillmore -- San Francisco, CA
WHY: Years and Years are one of the most refreshing electro-pop acts out there right now. The British duo behind the music lend a subtler touch to the dance genre, creating catchy synth melodies that have an impressive depth to them. Lead singer Olly Alexander is a natural on stage (not surprisingly, he sidelines as an actor) and reels the audience in with his powerful voice, magnetic presence, and lots of glitter.
