Liz Cheney: Nancy Pelosi's 'Spine Doesn't Seem To Reach Her Brain'

Liz Cheney on Tuesday countered House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi's (D-Calif.) criticism of her father, former Vice President Dick Cheney, claiming the Democrat's "spine doesn't seem to reach her brain."

During a Sunday appearance on CNN's "State of the Union," Pelosi discussed the Senate Intelligence Committee's decision to declassify a report detailing the Central Intelligence Agency's use of torture during the Bush administration.

"I do believe that during the Bush-Cheney administration that Vice President Cheney set a tone and an attitude for the CIA," Pelosi said. "I think he's proud of it."

Appearing on "Fox and Friends" Tuesday morning, Liz Cheney dismissed Pelosi's remarks.

"Frankly, Mrs. Pelosi is somebody who was briefed on the program, she forgot she was briefed on the program, later to admit it," Cheney said. "And I have to say that when I heard those comments yesterday, I was reminded of something that Margaret Tatcher once said about one of her political opponents: Mrs. Pelosi's problem is her spine doesn't seem to reach her brain."

Cheney continued, "We've got too many in Washington who were all in favor of doing everything necessary to defend the nation after 9/11 and now seem to be really not interested in looking at the facts, but really just looking for a way, frankly, to cast blame and say things that aren't true about those brave men and women."

The Senate Intelligence Committee decided in an 11-3 vote last week to declassify the executive summary of the CIA report. According to committee chair Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the report details "serious mistakes" made by the agency.

"The report exposes brutality that stands in stark contrast to our values as a nation. It chronicles a stain on our history that must never again be allowed to happen," Feinstein said in a statement.
