Loring Henderson Leaves Washington Job To Run Homeless Shelter In Kansas Hometown

As part of their 'Be Inspired' Series, each of the anchors of ABC's Good Morning America are highlighting the work of an amazing individual or organization that inspires them.

ABC's George Stephanopoulos picked Loring Henderson, a man he met 30 years ago in Washington, D.C. While working in public policy in D.C., Henderson volunteered his free time serving the homeless at a local soup kitchen and helping open a center for disabled youth. In the early 1990s, Henderson decided he wanted to do more -- he left Washington to head back to his hometown of Lawrence, Kansas. Henderson now works at the Redemptorist Center; helping people in need is his full-time job.
