Louis C.K. Emmy Nominations: Breaks Records With 7, Still Feels Guilty

Louis C.K. Scores 7 Emmy Nominations, Still Feels Guilty

Louis C.K.'s darkly hilarious FX comedy "Louie" missed out on an Outstanding Comedy Series nomination, but C.K. still cleaned up at Thursday morning's Emmy nominations.

The comedian was nominated in the Outstanding Actor in a Comedy Series category for "Louie" and also took home writing and directing nods for his behind-the-camera work on the series. C.K.'s self-produced stand-up special "Live at the Beacon Theatre" also earned him four nominations, bringing his total to an impressive seven, the highest of any individual in one year. According to A.V. Club that honor was previously held by David Lynch, who earned five nominations for the first season of "Twin Peaks."

In an interview with The New York Times, C.K. grappled with some guilt for nabbing so many individual nominations. "That’s a lot of nominations. It feels selfish, because I was really rooting for everybody on my show, so I feel a little selfish," he told Dave Itzkoff. C.K. said he would have liked to have seen the whole show nominated so he could share the honor with his entire cast and crew, but wasn't dwelling on the snub. "I would have loved to see it nominated, for everybody that works for me. But I don’t think I got robbed or something. That’s all craziness and I don’t believe in that. We’re a little show on FX. Anything you get is great."

C.K. has been on an impressive run on the awards show circuit in recent months. In February, he won a Grammy Award for his comedy album "Hilarious." He won four times at Comedy Central's Comedy Awards, and was named The Webby Awards Person of the Year in May.
