"If we want our species to survive, if we are to find meaning in life, if we want to save the world and every sentient being that inhabits it, love is the one and only answer." Albert Einstein

We’ve heard over and over again about the power of love. Now it’s time to put that to the test. When I teach children, the first thing we do is breathe in peace and breathe out love to everyone in the world. That is how simple this is, love is just an energy. When used properly love can be a win-win for all. It is really the only way to combat hate. Right now, in our world it looks like hate is winning. If you look at what is presented in the media, you can see cops killing black men, racial epithets, and messages of hate being posted around cities and social media. However, if you look at the Oscars recently you will see that movie after movie being honored that highlights the great accomplishments of black people in America.

It’s not that hate is winning it’s just that there is a lot of focus on the hate right now because of our leadership. When we shift our energy, and focus on all the good that is happening we will begin to see more positive messages than the negative ones. How do we use love as a tool to change the world? Recently at a mindful parenting workshop that I conducted I taught parents a really fun tool.

1)Take a deep breath, relax your body, relax your mind, and picture your heart and picture your children’s hearts. Energetically send love to their heart from your heart and watch it come back to you. I do this with my children today who are in their late twenties and I know they can feel it.

2) When going throughout your day, send love energetically to everyone you see and meet. When I am in New York City, I send love to every single person I see on the street all day long. By the end of the day, I am so filled with love that I can feel it overflowing from me.

3)At night, just as you’re ready to go to sleep, energetically wrap the earth in a blanket of love. That is how simple this all is yet so very powerful.

In a letter Albert Einstein wrote to his daughter “Each individual carries within them a small but powerful generator of love whose energy is waiting to be released. When we learn to give and receive this universal energy, we will have affirmed that love conquers all, is able to transcend everything and anything, because love is the quintessence of life.”

Right after the election in New York City a man named Matthew Chavez, a street artist started a “therapy wall” in the subway between stations where people could write their thoughts down on sticky notes. Soon it became a phenomenon of over 50,000 sticky notes. When I went to visit the wall, I could feel my heart opening up with all the words of encouragement and love. I began to cry. These sticky notes had messages on them that brought tears to my eyes. I was not alone. Men, women, and children of all different races were reading the notes. The emotions were high. Mind you this is underground in New York City and people’s eyes were filled with tears and glowing with love. This is how the power of love can affect large groups of people. Start to post loving messages on your social media feed and watch how people respond. Here’s the best part about love, the more you send out the more you get back. From President Trump’s own words “what do you have to lose?”

What we have to lose is the hate, the hopelessness and the anxiety. And that is what I call a win-win for all.
