Hey there, Lucky Magazine -- we almost didn't recognize you!
The broad-reaching fashion glossy has gotten a facelift thanks to its new editor-in-chief. Last month, the periodical's publisher announced that Eva Chen, an editor handpicked by Anna Wintour herself, would be taking the reins at Lucky in a rumored attempt to make the mass-market mag feel more "high-end."
So, how has Lucky changed in the hands of its new editor-in-chief? Its September issue hit selected newsstands today, revealing Blake Lively as its cover star. We remembered seeing Blake grace Lucky's cover before, back in 2008, but this time looks very different...
Billing Blake as a "modern fashion icon," the new Lucky shows a serious, sophisticated pose and editorial-inspired background. Compare this to the actress' decidedly everygirl, two-dimensional shot from five years ago (with the headline "Free" in large pink type) and it's easy to see the "aspirational" new direction, as Fashionista so aptly dubs the re-branding.
The September issue appears on newsstands everywhere on Tuesday. For now, spot the differences between the covers below. Is Lucky changing its tune?
