'Mad Men': Sterling Cooper & Partners Is The New Agency Name (VIDEO)

'Mad Men' Finally Gets A New Agency Name

Nearly a month after the "Mad Men" merger, it was finally time to rename the agency, because Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce Cutler Gleason and Chough didn't exactly have a nice ring to it.

“They want to call the agency Sterling Cooper & Partners,” Bert Cooper announced in Don's office. “It would depend on Don, Jim and Me all sharing the blow,” Ted Chaough added.

“It’s the only thing that’s equally offensive to all,” Jim Cutler sighed.

So Don agreed, and Pete had a mini-freakout, calling the new name a “consolation prize.” Then, he stole Stan’s joint and toked up right in the office.

Collider agreed with Pete -- the name change seemed like a defeat. “Though Pete didn’t have a direct complaint about losing name space, there was something somewhat regressive about allowing the firm to return to its original title, given how far they had all come.”

TVLine called it a topsy turvy episode -- but noted seeing Pete smoke in the office was probably the “grooviest” thing anyone would see all week.

"Mad Men" airs Sundays at 10 p.m. ET on AMC.
