Madonna Dons Over 1,000 Carats Of Diamonds For Oscars After–Party

The 'Material Girl' Steps Up Her Game In 1,000 Carats Of Diamonds

When Madonna throws a party, she makes sure to shine by all means necessary.

For her Oscars after–party, that meant draping herself in over 1,000 carats of diamonds. The "Material Girl" wore a slinky red dress with matching lips to her annual Academy Awards after–party in Los Angeles, but stood out more for her glittering jewels than the bold color choice.

Madonna posted a photo of her look on Instagram, displaying just a few of her accessories.

In a press release, jeweler Neil Lane takes credit for the thousand carats of diamonds in platinum that Madonna wore "up her wrist and on the ears." Of course, that means her rings and diamond cross necklace aren't even considered in the tally.

According to Us Weekly, Anne Hathaway walked the Oscars red carpet in 100 carats of Neil Lane diamonds, which totaled $1 million. Madonna wore 10 times the jewels, so we can only imagine what sort of fortune she was sporting.

Madonna's lavish headpiece is the work of jeweler Johanna Johnson. The accessory features Swarovski crystals instead of diamonds, because … you know … she had to draw the line somewhere.
