Madonna's 'MDNA' Tops The Charts, Becomes Madonna's Eighth No. 1 Album

Madonna Scores Eighth No. 1 Album With 'MDNA'

Despite a few lackluster reviews -- and a very public feud with house producer Deadmau5 -- Madonna scored her eighth career No. 1 album with MDNA.

Madonna only needs one more mega-popular release to tie Barbra Streisand's record of nine career chart-topping albums as the female artist with the most No. 1's in history.

MDNA sold 359,000 units in its first week, according to Nielsen SoundScan, and is Madonna's fifth straight studio album to debut at No. 1, after 2008's Hard Candy.

Last week, house music producer Deadmau5 slammed Madonna and her reference to ecstasy at the Ultra Music Festival as irresponsible.

When Madonna took the stage at Ultra, she asked, "How many people in this crowd have seen molly?" Molly is a slang term for MDMA, a drug commonly associated with rave culture. In response, Deadmau5 posted the following message on his Facebook:

"Very classy there madonna. "HUR DUR HAS ANYONE SEEN MOLLY???" such a great message for the young music lovers at ultra. quite the f'n philanthropist. but hey, at least yer HIP AND TRENDY! fucking cant smack my head hard enough right now."

Deadmau5 wasn't Madge's only critic. MDNA received mixed reviews, with some praising Madonna for her longevity and others finding her new album far too generic for the Queen of Pop.
