Madonna: Super Bowl XLVI Halftime Show Performance In Indianapolis Confirmed

It's Official! Madonna To Perform During Super Bowl!

Madonna will perform at the Super Bowl XLVI Halftime show, the NFL confirmed on Sunday.

The NFL championship game, which will take place on February 5th at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, will see the pop legend team up with Cirque du Soleil, her frequent collaborator Jamie King, and visual artists the Moment Factory in a telecast on NBC. The news was first reported back in October by SB Nation, though no official word has come until now.

After Janet Jackson's infamous "wardrobe malfunction" in 2004, the NFL began going with older, classic rock performers for its marquee event. Paul McCartney came after Jackson and co-star Justin Timberlake; the next few years featured The Rolling Stones, Prince, Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers, Bruce Springsteen and then The Who. Last year, the game mixed it up, hiring The Black Eyed Peas, Usher and Slash.
