Magic Johnson's Christian Faith, Gay Son, And How He Loves Both

Magic Johnson's Christian Message Of Love For His Gay Son

Former NBA player Magic Johnson opened up to Anderson Cooper on Dec. 2 about his son, Earvin Johnson III, and how EJ's sexual orientation doesn't change his support or his Christian religious beliefs.

"And I go to church, I'm a Christian, but the reality is, my son is gay," he said. "That is the reality. And I tell pastors that, I tell other pastors that. I tell black Christians who came out with me. But I say, I love my son, nothing is going to change that."

Johnson also commented, "At the end of our day in our community we have to start accepting those who are gay in our family. It is like my son, E.J. came out. It is important that Cookie and I support our son. We're going to support him 150 percent. "

With regards to those opposed to LGBT people he said, "I don't care if you don't agree and you don't want to deal with me or don't like me, that is on you. But I said tell me when it hits your own family, you know? Then you are going to have to make a decision."

That's what unconditional love looks like.
