Even though Earth Day has technically passed, I’d like to think of every day as an opportunity to celebrate Earth Day; each day should be spent giving thanks to the planet we live on in small and meaningful ways. From limiting plastic use on a regular basis to following the rules of recycling, and even using your own bags at the grocery store. there are so many options for sustaining a healthy environment. There are also plenty of ways to look good while doing so. Some may say that tones like deep oranges and greens, and rich chocolate browns are meant for the fall. The truth is, these colors can be used in a plethora of ways year round. This year for Earth Day, I glammed up with this month’s Deck of Scarlet palette to capture some of those earth-toned essences that are perfect for spring, which is also a time for renewal and growth.

Deck of Scarlet is a subscription service for the beauty obsessed. Every two months, subscribers are sent a new multifunction palette that can be used to create several looks. Each palette comes with shadows, lip creams, multipurpose face products, and my personal favorite…eyeliner (can a girl ever really have enough?)

One of my favorite YouTubers, Evon Wahab, also created a look using this palette.

I chose to create my look to represent spring using the deeper colors, like the green and brown shades which represent nature.

Here’s how I got my look using this month’s Deck of Scarlet.

The look begins with the eyeshadow Mermaid, a gorgeous forest green shade. Using a wet brush is key to picking up the most pigment for the look, since I have darker skin. I also chose to take that same shade and place it on my waterline for a dramatic effect.

The next step is to warm up the outer corner of the lid with something warmer. For this I used the shade Fudge. This gave me the perfect amount of definition for the look to keep it smokey and fun.

The face pigment in Sunshine was the perfect blush. The highlighter in Halo also looked great to highlight my brows. I also used it on my cheekbones for a pop of glow.

Finally, the look is never complete without a great lip. These creamy lip colors are amazing. I used the lip liner in Cake Pop and placed the shade Almond all over. I then highlighted the center using Coral Kiss, which tied everything together wonderfully for a spring appropriate and earth toned look. Check out my tutorial here.

While I may not be Evon Wahab, the look worked great for me!
