Proper skincare is worth the investment, but that doesn’t make it any less painful to fork over your hard-earned cash.

It does mean this little hack is genius, because it helps make those beloved products last longer.

Reddit user -callievee- recently uploaded a photo of an eye cream to the site’s Makeup Addict page. Product has stopped coming out, so she cut the tube open from the bottom. The discovery? A hefty amount of eye cream that would have otherwise been thrown away.

Genius, right? We’re upset just thinking about the total value of creams and lotions and serums we’ve thrown away, assuming there was none left. And all that could have been salvaged by a pair of scissors, determination, and a binder clip to keep tubes sealed again between uses.

Fellow Redditors commented that they use the same method on sunscreens, shampoos, conditioners ― pretty much anything that can be cut open from the bottom.

Go forth and save those products, people.
