Convicted killer Steven Avery’s new fiancée, Lynn Hartman, and, in a surprise phone call to her, Steven Avery himself, speak out and answer questions about their engagement and new details surrounding Avery’s infamous case that was exposed in the Netflix documentary “Making A Murderer.” In her first sit-down interview, airing Monday, October 3 and Tuesday, October 4, Hartman describes to Dr. Phil how she found true love with one of America’s most notorious convicted killers.

“The first time he told me he loved me was the first time we spoke on the phone,” says Hartman, a legal secretary who says she began writing Avery earlier this year and met him face to face two weeks ago.

Avery, who was convicted in 2007 for the murder of photographer Teresa Halbach and is currently serving life in prison at the Waupun Correctional Institute in Wisconsin, calls Hartman from prison in what turns out to be his first television interview since the documentary was released.

“I haven’t been in love my whole life. It’s not the same as the others. Everything is all different with her,” Avery says of Hartman. He also discusses their pending nuptials, his infamy and his hope that actor Brad Pitt will portray him in a film about his life.

Asked about a possible wedding date to his fiancée, Avery says, “I want to wait until I’m out and I don’t think that’ll be too long; right around the corner.”

Avery’s nephew Brendan Dassey was also convicted in Halbach’s murder and after the release of the documentary in December 2015, hundreds of thousands of outraged viewers questioned both men’s convictions. Dassey recently had his conviction overturned, and Avery, who maintains his innocence, tells Dr. Phil, “The truth is coming out and sooner or later, all the truth will come out.”

This two-part exclusive interview airs on Dr. Phil Monday, October 3 and Tuesday, October 4. Check here to see where you can watch.
