Police in New Jersey say a 45-year-old man wiped his rear end with a court summons and tossed it at a Readington police officer.

Joseph Greenwood, 45, of Whitehouse Station, has been indicted on a single count of "throwing bodily fluid," according to a copy of the indictment, which was filed in New Jersey Superior Court this month.

The Daily Journal reports Greenwood was issued the summons in June, after he was released on a municipal court charge of threatening to assault another person.

The indictment, a copy of which was obtained by The Smoking Gun, says Greenwood took the summons, placed it "between his butt cheeks," wiped it "in an upward and downward motion," and threw it at the officer.

Greenwood's actions, the indictment continues, purposely subjected the officer "to contact with a bodily fluid."

If convicted, Greenwood faces a possible 18-month jail sentence, Hillsborough Patch reported.

Contacted by HuffPost on Wednesday, Lt. Joseph Greco declined to elaborate on the contents of indictment. However, he did describe the incident as something that "certainly doesn't happen every day."

Asked if he would describe Greenwood's alleged actions as crappy, Greco said: "Yeah, no pun intended."
