Jamison Adsit was working as a safety companion in a hospital in Syracuse, NY in 2008, entrusted with ensuring the security and well-being of patients. Six weeks into the job, Jamison says he was accused by a co-worker of sexually assaulting a female patient.
But Jamison adamantly denies any wrongdoing and claims he was the one who was attacked.
“I took my eyes off her for no more than 10 seconds, and like a rattlesnake striking out, she grabbed ahold of my pants and my shirt and pulled me toward her.”
He says he was adjusting his patient’s bed, when the woman he describes as a “45-year-old disheveled, unbathed homeless woman” grabbed him by the shirt and pants and intentionally made contact with his clothed genitals.
“I took my eyes off her for no more than 10 seconds, and like a rattlesnake striking out, she grabbed ahold of my pants and my shirt and pulled me toward her,” Jamison claims of the incident.
Jamison says immediately after, he went to the charge nurse and told her what happened. “This woman grabbed ahold of me, so I didn’t feel like I had anything to hide, because nothing had happened,” he says.
But Fred, a co-worker of Jamison’s, reported that he saw Jamison engaging in a sexual act with the female patient while she was sitting on her bed. “The waistband of his scrubs were pulled down,” he recalls.
“The next thing I know, the police are looking for me, and I voluntarily went down to the police department,” Jamison says.
Days later, Jamison was arrested and charged with committing a criminal sex act in the second degree.
“I’m being painted as a sick individual who is taking advantage of somebody who is in their worst state and helpless,” Jamison says. “When I heard this, it was dumbfounding. I had no clue that they were building a case against me, at all.”
In the video above, Jamison, who was convicted of the charge and served five years in prison for the crime, demonstrates what he claims happened with the patient.
