Police: Man In Women's Clothes Tried To Lure Girls With Scooby-Doo

A man dressed in a mask, a wig, and all-black women's clothing has tried unsuccessfully to lure four girls into his cargo van in recent days, according to Chicago police.

The attempts happened on two separate mornings, Wednesday and Thursday of last week, in the Englewood neighborhood on Chicago's South Side. WGN reports that the man told young girls that "Scooby-Doo wants to play" with them.

When they weren't lured into the van, he got out and chased them, WGN reports. All four girls escaped unharmed.

According to the Chicago Sun-Times, the suspect is a black man with a dark complexion, of unidentified age. His car was a 2002 Ford Econoline cargo van, with Illinois plates 58355X.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the vehicle is registered to an address in Riverdale, Illinois, in Chicago's south suburbs, but their attempts to reach the person on the vehicle's registration were unsuccessful.

Anyone with information in the case is asked to call detectives at (312) 747-8380.
