A man was filmed riding a children's push scooter through a freeway tunnel in Sydney, Australia on Tuesday, leaving one amazed driver wondering if he's on drugs.
Wearing a white-collared shirt and pants, the man appears to do his best to keep up with the surrounding cars inside the busy Cross City Tunnel.
Ultimately, however, he just ends up snarling traffic.
"What a joke," a woman, who appears to record the stunt from inside a trailing car, says in the video.
She then asks the driver to slow down as they begin to pass the man, saying: "I want to see if he's on drugs."
Despite the man's turtle speed, he was reportedly fast enough to outrun the 1.3-mile tunnel's operators who came on the loudspeaker urging him to pull over, 9News reported.
By the time authorities arrived, he was gone.
New South Wales police say the 42-year-old man turned himself in the Surry Hills Police Department on Wednesday after seeing footage of himself on local news stations.
The one-way ride ended up costing him a fixed $71 fine, police said.
“The incident highlights the profound impact on the road network that one person [can have], and the interest generated by this matter shows that the public share that view,” Acting Assistant Commissioner Stuart Smith said in a release.
"Regardless of how the person came to be in the tunnel, their safety was at risk and there was potential for him to be hit or to cause a crash," he added.
