Manchester United secured three more precious points in the UEFA Champions League, and the Red Devils have Mexican forward Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez to thank for that.

In a rare start, Hernandez struck for two headers to lead United out of a two-goal hole and to a 3-2 victory over Portuguese side Sporting Braga at Old Trafford on Tuesday.

Hernandez, who scored in each of Mexico's World Cup qualifiers earlier this month, only had one goal for Manchester United this season prior to Tuesday's match. With United trailing 2-0 courtesy of two goals by Braga's Alan, Hernandez got to the end of a cross from Shinji Kagawa in the 25th minute to slice the deficit in half.

Hernandez was denied a second goal when Kagawa was incorrectly ruled offside before setting up the Mexican striker for an easy finish, but Hernandez got his second in the 75th minute. He headed home the game-winning goal off a cross from Tom Cleverley, before coming out of the match four minutes later for veteran Ryan Giggs.

Chicharito was not the only Mexican international to star in the Champions League on Tuesday, as Andres Guardado assisted on one of Roberto Soldado's three goals in Valencia's 3-0 trouncing of BATE Borisov. Both performances came a day after Giovani dos Santos marked his Mallorca debut with two assists in a loss to Sevilla.
