Manning Marable's Widow, Leith Mullings, On His Fascination With Malcolm X (VIDEO)

WATCH: Manning Marable's Widow On His Fascination With Malcolm X

Manning Marable was a remarkable scholar, critic and writer. He died last year, less than a week before Malcolm X: A Life of Reinvention, the book he spent a decade writing, was published.

The book uncovered new sources and archival material to create a powerful portrait of the African American leader. It went on to win the Pulitzer Prize for History.

Penguin has just released a new deluxe ebook edition of the book, featuring maps of Malcolm X's Harlem, and video clips of speeches by Marable and Malcolm X among others.

We're featuring two exclusive video clips from the app, above and below, in which his widow Leith Mullings, a professor of anthropology, discusses her husband's background and fascination with Malcolm X.
