Maral Noshad Sharifi, 'The Men Who Want AIDS' Author, Talks About The Controversial Topic

'Some Of Them Are Happy To Hear They Are Affected With HIV'

HuffPost Live recently discussed a group of men who welcomed their HIV-positive diagnoses in order to obtain housing and benefits that kept them from living on the street, as written about in OUT Magazine.

HuffPost Live's Ricky Camilleri spoke with Maral Noshad Sharifi, the author of the article that kickstarted the conversation. Researching poverty in the South Bronx, Sharifi came across men who were actually relieved when they discovered they were HIV positive, as the diagnosis could help secure access to better living conditions.

To watch the conversation with Sharifi, as well as Johnny Guaylupo, the Programming Coordinator for Housing Works, a New York non-profit that fights AIDS and homelessness, watch the clip above and to see the full segment click here.
