Marc Jacobs On Drug Addiction: 'I Was Never A Fat Heroin Addict' (VIDEO)

Marc Jacobs: 'I Was Never A Fat Heroin Addict -- I Was A Skinny Heroin Addict'

We probably would have overlooked this one otherwise (thanks, Fashionista!) so we're so glad we got a glimpse of this Marc Jacobs interview with Interview.

Interview's German edition, which recently put a very cute Victoria Beckham on the cover, sat down with Jacobs in Berlin to talk about, well, everything: his love of private jets, smoking, sleeping as well as some of his career highlights (e.g. putting Victoria Beckham in a shopping bag).

He also talked about some personal "lowlights," including his period of drug addiction. But it seems like the only cloud still hanging over his head from that time isn't the addiction itself but rather being called a "fat heroin addict":

“That was the stupidest thing I ever heard, because first of all, I was never a fat heroin addict -- I was a skinny heroin addict and got over that, luckily. I was fat when I stopped doing drugs, not while I was doing drugs. I don’t know anyone who’s fat when they’re doing drugs.”

Interestingly, it would appear that Robert Duffy, Jacobs' close friend and president of business for Marc Jacobs International, is the one who said it to WSJ. last year. Luckily, it doesn't seem to have caused any obvious rift.

Jacobs also tells Interview that he spends "a couple of hours each day" at the gym. Between that and the smoking, we're thinking any remnant of his "fat days" are long gone.
