Marcus Camby Arrested: NBA Center Busted For Marijuana Possession

NBA Center Busted For Marijuana Possession

Portland Trail Blazers center Marcus Camby was arrested in Pearland, Texas on Monday on charges of marijuana possession, The Pearland Journal reports.

Camby was pulled over in his car due to an equipment violation when an officer smelled the scent of marijuana coming from the vehicle.

UPDATE: Joe Freeman of The Oregonian reports that the marijuana possession charges against Camby have been dropped.

EARLIER:

According to police, a search of Camby's car yielded less than two ounces of the drug, resulting in the 16-year NBA veteran and his passenger, 25-year-old Kendall Lance Johnson, being arrested and charged with a misdemeanor. They were arrested in a drug-free zone near Dawson High School.

While smoking marijuana is a violation of the NBA's substance abuse policy, Camby will not have to deal with league officials because of the ongoing NBA lockout. Fellow NBA player Michael Beasley was also arrested for marijuana possession earlier this summer.
