Margaret Cho Talks Gay Marriage, LGBT Voters In 2012 Election On HuffPost Live

WATCH: Margaret Cho Talks Gay Marriage, LGBT Voters On HuffPost Live

The nation's lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) voters prioritize the same issues of the economy, unemployment, and health care as the rest of the general population, according to a new Logo TV poll.

This comes as little surprise to comedian/author Margaret Cho, who appeared (along with fellow HuffPost Gay Voices bloggers John Becker, Toni Newman and Rebecca Juro) on HuffPost Live to chat about the survey, which challenges the perception that the marriage equality is the top election priority for the American LGBT population.

Describing the fight for same-sex marriage as "an international phenomenon," Cho nonetheless noted, "I think it's important to acknowledge that even though we are fighting the fight for marriage equality, we're still citizens of this country, and it doesn't mean that we're not concerned with things like the economy or unemployment or healthcare."

The poll also found that one out of five LGBT voters said they'd be more likely to vote for Mitt Romney if he held the same positions on same-sex marriage and other LGBT-relevant issues as the president -- a point which Becker acknowledged.

"I would highly doubt many LGBT people would be in a rush to go vote for the Romney/Ryan ticket given the fact that they've embraced the most anti-LGBT platform in the Republican party in history," he said. "As citizens of the United States, we need jobs, we need economic security like everybody else."
