A West Hollywood triplex with an impressive celebrity pedigree has hit the market for $4.75 million.
The gated compound was once the home of both Frank Sinatra and Marilyn Monroe. The stars' rentals overlapped at the property in 1961, reports the Los Angeles Times. Sinatra used the unit as a getaway, while Monroe lived in hers.
The property was remodeled by interior designer Kalef Alaton, a Turkish-born designer who owned the triplex in the eighties. Alaton was known for his lavish design aesthetic, working on interiors in Hotel Bel-Air and private homes in Beverly Hills.
The main home on the property boasts floor-to-ceiling class doors and a 100-foot long living room, according to the official listing. The second unit, a studio above a garage, has a fireplace, kitchenette and library that can double as a bedroom. Finally, the third unit has one bedroom and one bathroom, and is built around an atrium. All three units look into a garden, and all have access to terraces and an "airy patio."
In total, there are four bedrooms and six bathrooms spread out over 5,637 square feet of living space.
The West Hollywood triplex wasn't the only time Monroe and Sinatra shared living space. Sinatra was the longtime tenant of a 14-acre estate in Chatsworth, Calif. known as "Farralone" in the 1950s. He used to sublet a 1,000 square foot guest house (complete with its own swimming pool) to Monroe, the location of her final photo shoot and the rendezvous spot for her alleged lover, President John F. Kennedy.
