Republican Mark Assini conceded to incumbent Louise Slaughter (D) on Wednesday in the race to represent New York's 25th District.

After a final tally on Wednesday, Slaughter led Assini by just 869 votes in a race that many did not expect to be close.

Slaughter has served in the House of Representatives since 1987, having previously represented New York's 28th District.
