Mark Hamill Had No Idea He Was The Third Wheel Of The 'Star Wars' Franchise

Luke, I am ... having an affair with our co-star.

Much like his character Luke Skywalker, it sounds like Mark Hamill was pretty much in the dark about everything going on behind the scenes of the original “Star Wars” movie. Hey, it was the ‘70s and you don’t just wake up with that Tatooine chic hairstyle, OK?

Hamill was apparently just as surprised to learn that his co-stars Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford were in the midst of an “intense” affair during the filming of the first installment of the epic space franchise.

“I was so self-involved at that point, they could’ve been doing it in front of me and I wouldn’t have noticed,” Hamill exclusively told Entertainment Tonight at the Comic-Con HQ network launch Tuesday. “I was single and had my own agenda.”

“I think it might have been a distraction if I’d known what was going on,” he added.

In November, Fisher confirmed the long-brewing rumors that she and Ford were indeed lovers during their time in a galaxy far, far away, despite the actor being married with two children at the time.

“I was so inexperienced, but I trusted something about him. He was kind,” Fisher, who was only 19 years old at the time compared to a 33-year old Ford, told People. “It was Han and Leia during the week, and Carrie and Harrison during the weekend.”

She detailed their three-month affair in her new memoir, The Princess Diarist, which features excerpts from journals she kept while filming the original “Star Wars” movie.
