Mark Zuckerberg Named TIME's 'Person Of The Year': Twitter Users Butt Heads Over The Pick

DIVIDED: Twitter Users Butt Heads Over Mark Zuckerberg, TIME

Tweeters are in a tizzy over TIME's selection of Mark Zuckerberg as the "Person of the Year" for 2010.

On the one hand, there is the mindset that Zuckerberg deserved the award; after all, Facebook affects the lives over half a billion people around the globe. On the other hand, a reader poll published by TIME reveals that the overwhelming choice for "Person of the Year" was Julian Assange, the man behind the Wikileaks cable releases that have taken the internet--and the world at large--by storm. Zuckerberg took tenth place on the same poll.

We sampled a range of opinions from across Twitter and compiled them into a slideshow (below). See what tweeters have to say, and vote for your favorite tweets. Do you think Zuckerberg is a controversial choice for "Person of the Year?" Whom would you have nominated?
