'AKA Jessica Jones' Looking For A Home

Marvel's "AKA Jessica Jones" TV series is looking for a cable home.

Originally in development at ABC, the network passed on the project in May 2012. At the 2013 TCA, Melissa Rosenberg, the veteran "Dexter" writer who adapted "AKA Jessica Jones," told IGN that Marvel hasn't given up on the series.

Rosenberg is currently writing for ABC's midseason entry "Red Widow," but she doesn't think "Jessica Jones" would fit on the network. "It might be a cable show, really. The graphic novel is the first one that Marvel did that was meant to serve an adult audience," she said. "I toned it down a little bit for network, but it’s very, very easy to translate that into cable. Very easy. God I love that project, other than this one ['Red Widow'], it’s one of my favorite things that I’ve ever written.”

The comic book "Alias" by Brian Michael Bendis followed the Jessica Jones superhero character as she confronted her past demons and worked as a private investigator. The project was first announced in 2010 along with a "Hulk" TV series and projects at ABC Family. However, the "Hulk" series took a backseat and ABC has fast-tracked Joss Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." pilot.

Starring Ming-Na Wen and Clark Gregg, Whedon's "S.H.I.E.L.D." takes place in the same universe as the Marvel "Avengers" movie franchise. It could hit TV in the fall 2013 season.
