Marvel Plans To Release 'Captain America 3' On May 6, 2016, Despite 'Batman vs. Superman' [UPDATE]

Marvel Head Says Studio Won't Blink For Batfleck

When Warner Bros. moved its upcoming Batman vs. Superman film to May 6, 2016, it put the "Man of Steel" sequel in direct competition with an untitled Marvel movie that Disney had set for the same date. That battle is still happening, at least on Marvel's end: Speaking to Slashfilm this week, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige said there were no plans in place to shift his film away from the DC Comics feature.

"We're certainly keeping the date there and we'll announce what that movie is, I assume, in the next few months," Feige said.

What the untitled 2016 movie could be has come into focus thanks to The Hollywood Reporter. According to the trade magazine, Marvel has set "Captain America 3" for that date, though the studio did not confirm the announcement. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" is out on April 4. Directors Anthony and Joe Russo are onboard to bring the third film in the franchise to the screen.

This post has been updated to reflect that "Captain America 3" will arrive on May 6.
