The mystery of Agent Coulson brought with it an unexpected reveal about May on the latest episode of "Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D." Insisting that he's felt different since his death in "The Avengers," Coulson ordered a battery of medical tests. But the tests all came back clean, confirming only that he was in great health.
Still, he didn't feel the same. May comforted him in this moment, saying, "Whether it was eight seconds or 40, you died. There’s no way you can go through a trauma like that and not come out of it changed." She then added, "You know how long it’s taken me.”
Zap2It's Terri Schwartz loved the scene, noting that it was a pretty big reveal when May indicated that she, too, had died and come back at some point. HitFix's Drew McWeeny thinks it's only a matter of time before Coulson discovers the truth. "Everyone who keeps dismissively asserting that he is a Life-Model Decoy might want to pump the brakes a bit," he wrote. "Coulson seems motivated to find answers in a new way now, no longer willing to accept whatever the story is that he's been told ... He knows that he should have never survived what Loki did to him, and he's asking questions.”
