A spoonful (or even just a blink-and-you-missed-it appearance) of Meryl Streep makes the whimsical first full trailer for “Mary Poppins Returns” go down even easier.

Disney has been teasing next chapter in the adventures of the umbrella clad nanny from the clouds for what feels like forever ― seriously, the first teaser dropped at the Oscars this year ― and now it’s almost here.

The sequel to the classic 1964 film brings Poppins, played this time around by Emily Blunt, back into the lives of the Banks children, Michael (Ben Whishaw) and Jane (Emily Mortimer). Now, they’re all grown up, but still in need of her assistance and magic touch as their family mourns the loss of a loved one.

With “Chicago” director Rob Marshall at the helm, the sequel looks like the follow-up to the classic tale we deserve. In the trailer, there’s a snippet of a song, some Lin-Manuel Miranda showmanship, breathtaking melding of live-action and animation and, speaking of Streep, a couple of truly outlandish looks.

“It’s incredibly hopeful,” Blunt said of the sequel in an interview with The Sunday Times last year. “I didn’t watch the original while shooting, but it’s seared into my memory — this idea of her as this incredibly unsentimental character who swept into their lives and made it all right. I found a great comfort in that as a child.”

She added: “The world is fragile right now, and people need a film like this.”

The film also stars Colin Firth, Dick Van Dyke, Julie Walters and Angela Lansbury.

“Mary Poppins Returns” hits theaters Dec. 19.
