Marysol Castro Leaving 'Early Show'

Marysol Castro will no longer anchor the weather on CBS' "Early Show," according to TVNewser.

The site reports that Castro will remain with the network, though her role has yet to be announced. Local affiliates will handle the weather report for the morning show.

The change is the latest shake-up in the network's attempt to re-invent the morning show, which consistently trails NBC's "Today" and ABC's "Good Morning America." The network replaced the show's entire team of anchors in January, and Castro was a part of that new lineup, having moved to the "Early Show" from her post as weather anchor at "GMA."

CBS News leadership have also placed an emphasis on hard-hitting news and politics on the show, which debuted a new set and new format in May.

Thus far, the show's makeover has not gone smoothly. David Rhodes issued a scathing memo over the show's failure to promote its scoops in in April, and former executive producer David Friedman, who was responsible for the show's new anchor lineup was fired in May.
