Massachusetts Primary 2012 Outlook: Mitt Romney Aims For Super Tuesday Win Back Home

The 2012 Massachusetts primary is being held on Super Tuesday, and Mitt Romney is looking to score a win in his home state.

Polling has been scarce in the race for the Republican presidential nomination in the Bay State, where 41 delegates are up for grabs.

HuffPost's Mark Blumenthal reports:

Massachusetts will allocate delegates on a proportional basis, so that any candidate receiving at least 15 percent of the vote will receive a share of the delegates that roughly matches his percentage of the vote.

Local station WBUR reports:

In Massachusetts, Republicans make up 11 percent of registered voters. The majority are unenrolled. Secretary of State William Galvin said it’s hard to predict Tuesday’s turnout among independent voters.

The Boston-based outlet reports that Romney is expected to cast a ballot himself in the race around 5:00 p.m. ET at a local senior center, according to his campaign.

Primary and caucus contests are also taking place in the following states on Super Tuesday: Alaska, Georgia, Idaho, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Tennessee, Vermont and Virginia.
