Massage Parlor Owner’s Robbery Story Doesn’t Have A Happy Ending

He unknowingly steers cops to his alleged prostitution ring

If you're going to report a theft to police, it's a good idea not to be a pimp.

John Sherman, owner of Oriental Massage in the Milwaukee area, called cops to complain that he'd been robbed of $300. But when a suspect was apprehended, the thief told authorities that he pilfered the cash because a massage employee took money from him for a sex act. Then the suspect said it wasn't the only massage joint that was offering expanded services.

The disclosure prompted an undercover investigation, resulting in the arrest of Sherman on suspicion of running a prostitution ring, Fox6 reported Thursday.

Sherman's wife and another worker were also charged amid allegations of a prostitution ring that spanned several massage parlors.

According to WISN 12 News, both local police and Homeland Security say they uncovered human trafficking in the investigation. Sherman was said to have driven female sex workers between his massage joints and an apartment above a Milwaukee restaurant.

The employees were believed to be from China and are now back home, Fox6 noted in its video report above.

Sherman faces two counts of keeping a place of prostitution, WISN points out, and could be sentenced up to 12 years in prison if convicted. His wife and another worker were also charged late last year.

In 2010, Sherman's brother was hit with prostitution allegations at a massage parlor he ran but was never convicted, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
