Matt Barber Of Liberty Counsel: Gay Marriage Will Never Be Recognized Despite SCOTUS Rulings

Gay Marriage Will Never Be Recognized Despite SCOTUS Rulings, Pundit Vows

Matt Barber joins the chorus of right-wing voices who have condemned the U.S. Supreme Court's rulings on the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) and Prop 8.

The Liberty Counsel Action's vice president decried the decisions in an appearance on the "Faith and Freedom" radio program, noting that "the persecution [of same-sex marriage opponents] is already starting to happen," and that "the court has opened the floodgates for persecution to occur," Right Wing Watch first reported.

He then declared, "We will not pretend that a man can marry a man or a woman can marry a woman under any circumstances in any context whatsoever ... The institution of natural marriage was designed by and is owned by the creator of the universe, God."

Barber's sentiments aren't particularly surprising given his established views on the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) community. Earlier this year, he slammed adoption by same-sex couples as "basically purchasing children," calling it "selfish and [hurtful to] children."

He also tweeted an illustration implying the pedophiles may end up as Scout leaders now that the Boy Scouts of America have lifted sexuality as youth membership criteria.
