Matt Lauer seems to have taken this "Fifty Shades of Grey" interview a little too far.

Well, with the help of some digital superimposing, courtesy of Ellen DeGeneres.

On her program, DeGeneres recently showed Lauer in bondage gear, complete with handcuffs, as he chatted with the steamy movie's stars, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. (Watch the clip, above.)

On Thursday, Lauer and his "Today" colleagues couldn't restrain themselves, displaying the segment for those who may have missed it. Then Lauer playfully vowed revenge against DeGeneres:
