When Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie dropped by the "Watch What Happens: Live" clubhouse, Andy Cohen asked them each to recall their most embarrassing on-air "Today" moment. After Lauer told his, Guthrie admitted there was no way she could top it. Lauer said it went down when Vince Gill and wife Amy Grant were performing on the show.
"Instead of looking at Amy Grant, I noticed Vince Gill was looking at one of the particularly voluptuous singers," Lauer recalled. "I kinda went up behind him and went, ‘I know. Are those things real?’ And he turned to me and said, ‘They better be real. That’s my daughter.'"
Okay, while the exchange wasn't actually caught on air, it's embarrassing enough that we'll give him a pass. Yikes!
Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie are headed to Sochi, Russia to cover the Winter Olympics. Lauer will be hosting the opening ceremonies alongside Meredith Vieira on Friday, February 7.
"Today" airs weekday mornings at 7 a.m. EST on NBC. "Watch What Happens: Live" airs Sunday through Thursday at 11 p.m. EST on Bravo.
