Meggings Trend: Anderson Cooper Weighs In On New Men's Fashion Item (VIDEO)

Anderson Cooper Weighs In On The New 'Meggings' Trend

In fashion, it's all about the next big thing. For men, that thing is "meggings." But trendy or not, Anderson Cooper just doesn't get it.

Cooper weighed in on the meggings -- or leggings for men -- trend during Tuesday's episode of his show, "Anderson Live."

"I don't know any guy who would wear this, though," Cooper said, while introducing his audience to the new en vogue style. "That just looks ridiculous to me."

Don't expect to see Cooper in meggings any time soon. "I couldn't pull this off because I have scrawny little chicken legs," he said.

Cooper might not be caught in them, but celebrities such as Justin Bieber, Russell Brand and Lenny Kravtiz have each already worn meggings, according to Business Insider. Uniqlo, Barneys and Nordstrom have stocked their shelves with the tights for men.

The megging first made an appearance at Alexander McQueen's 2007 show, according to the London Evening Standard. Most recently, Givenchy sent male models down the runway in leggings for the fashion house's autumn 2012 collection. But, not everyone can work the meggings look, which has become so popular that it already has its own tumblr filled with photos of models showing them off.

Whether or not meggings will become a celebrated trend is unclear, but the androgynous look is here to stay. Famous faces such as Andrej Pejic, a male womenswear model, and Olympian Casey Legler, the first female menswear model, are changing the face of fashion with their boundary-pushing styles.
