Melissa Harris-Perry dedicated a "Nerd Land" segment of her show on Sunday to a subject near and dear to her heart (and head) -- hair.

The host of MSNBC's "Melissa Harris-Perry Show" has talked at length about the politics of black women and our hair. Last June she gathered a panel of folks, including actress Nicole Ari Parker, natural hair blogger Nikki Walton (aka Curly Nikki) and University of Pennsylvania religion professor Anthea Butler, to chat all things hair. Our favorite part? Harris-Perry's hilarious, yet pointed "Black Hair 101" video, a must-see for all those curious about black hair.

It was that episode that Inspired Butler to host a symposium at the University of Pennsylvania on the topic last month. The March 1 event was a huge success and Harris-Perry was on hand to cover all the excitement.

And, in what could be considered the most exciting part of the program, Butler snatched off her gray wig to expose her real tresses, which had been flat twisted. She then proceeded to have her styled in front of the crowd to demonstrate the versatility of her natural hair and ultimately everyone's hair.
