To Those Who Love A Good Yarn: We Need You

To Those Who Love A Good Yarn: We Need You

On Dec. 1, 2013, Huff/Post50 and AARP will be launching a new Memoir Contest aimed at discovering the hidden writing talent among those 50 and older -- as well as some amazing life stories. Although we're excited about the idea of this new initiative, it also presents us with a challenge -- reading them all.

And that's why we're asking for the community's help. We're seeking 10 people to serve on a Huffington Post Memoir Editorial Board. Each week, you'll receive anywhere from three to 10 submissions. (We are asking writers for only the first 5,000 words with a deadline of Feb. 15, 2014.) After reviewing the submissions, you'll be asked to give us a thumbs up or a thumbs down. You will not only have the opportunity to help discover the next Frank McCourt and "Angela's Ashes," but you'll also have the chance to be part of a new and vibrant literary community.

We're looking for people with a keen literary eye who are 50 or older. Please tell us in five sentences or less why you are qualified to judge the memoirs of others. Emails can be sent to 50memoir@huffingtonpost.com and must be received by noon on Monday, Dec. 11, 2013. Please put "memoir judge" in the subject line. (Being a judge does not preclude you from having your own memoir read by someone else on the board.)

Thanks everyone!
