It is great to have a good laugh. In my business helping women in their menopause journey, it can be hard to find something to laugh about at times.

But, laughter really is the best medicine around and a little bit of humour may be all it takes to give you a lift and look forward to each day.

Here are some of the best quotes from women experiencing symptoms such as anger, hot flushes and forgetfulness. Perhaps you can relate to one or two of the stories below.

"If I was a dog, I'm sure I would be put down."

"Not sleeping, memory loss, angriness and frustration, pains all over my body and hot flashes at least 15 times a day. If I was a dog, I'm sure I would be put down."

Quotes from Whoopie Goldberg during her menopause journey

  • All those years bitching about my period and when it stopped, I was stunned to realize how much my womanhood was tied into it. It hits you hard.
  • It's too hot! Nobody told me it's going to last as long as it feels like it's lasting. And sneezing is a new experience.

Trouble with the car's heating?

My nephew was driving myself and a fellow 50+ girlfriend to dinner. As we were driving, the windows steamed up. My nephew could not work out what was going on and kept wiping the front windscreen to be able to see out of the window. Meanwhile, my companion in the back seat was desperately trying to get out of her coat and cool down without being too conspicuous.

Someone has stolen my trolley!

This incident happened to another good friend of mine. One day while working in my Healthful Shop (in a shopping mall) a regular customer came into me crying. Someone had stolen her trolley after doing all her shopping. She was so distraught and we were trying our best to console her.

At the end of the working day, a staff member was in the bookshop next door when the staff there relayed how a customer had left a whole trolley behind and if we knew of anyone who may have displaced it?

We immediately rang the customer who came in one hour later rather red faced. Yes, she had gone into the bookshop and then wandered into another shop. She had completely forgotten about going into the book shop when she realised she could not find her trolley.

Menopause is not an easy transition for some women. I am not suggesting that they should be the butt of jokes either.

Having a positive attitude and being informed of what is happening in your body plays a major role in making this transition with as minimal stress as possible.
