Anchorage Police are now turning to the public for help capturing two men who, they said, raped a woman while she was unconscious and then stole her child's Christmas presents from under the tree.
The Anchorage Daily News reports that the incident happened in the woman's apartment in the early hours of December 15.
The woman told police she went to a strip club the night before where she met and had drinks with the two men. The men then went with the woman to her apartment where the trio kept drinking and the woman passed out.
She awoke later that morning to discover she had been raped and that $500 worth of Christmas presents for her child had been nabbed, according to the head of the Anchorage Police Special Victim's Unit.
These types of gruesome crimes take on an especially nefarious undertone when they're committed during the holiday season.
CBS Philly reported on a woman who was kidnapped and raped by three men as she waited in her car for her boyfriend on Christmas day. Cops said they were able to track down the perpetrators who turned out to be friends of the woman's children.
Also on Christmas, A Tuscaloosa, Ala. man was charged with raping a 15-year-old after he was first arrested on a domestic violence assault charge against an 11-year-old, according to Al.com.
Anyone with information on the Anchorage case is asked to call (907) 786-8900 or Crime Stoppers at (907) 561-STOP to deliver a tip anonymously.
