Men And Women Friends? No, Because Men Are Simple, Claims Man (VIDEO)

WATCH: Men Are Simple, Claims Man

Can men and women be friends? It seems like we've been trying to answer this question continuously since "When Harry Met Sally" came out in 1989, and probably long before. Tuesday, HuffPost Live tackled the debate, bringing together guests who have very different thoughts on the topic.

"For men, it's very very simple, we see a woman and we immediately think, 'I would do her or I would not do her,'" says Steve Santagati, author of The Manual: A True Bad Boy Explains How Men Think, Date, and Mate--and What Women Can Do to Come Out on Top. "And if you fall into the 'I would do her category,' the only way you can get out of that zone is if you're such a horrible person or you gain a lot of weight or you become somehow physically unattractive to him."

The women involved in the segment seemed to agree that friendships are a little more complicated than that. Writer Olga Boyko spoke about one of her close male friends and commented that it was especially hard to think about dating him or hooking up with him since he had been involved with several of her female friends.

"What if you guys just don't have a chemical attraction?" asked comedian and writer Nicole Paone. "That's not most guys," responded Santagati.

What do you think? Do you agree that men are really as "simple" as Santagati claims?
