MISSION VIEJO (KTLA)-- The sole survivor of deadly Metrolink train accident in Mission Viejo says she and her friends fell asleep on the tracks after spending several hours drinking at a Santa Ana bar.

A young man and woman were killed and the survivor suffered moderate injuries when they were struck by the train early Thursday morning.

The accident was reported at 6:15 a.m. in the area of Alicia Pkwy. and Via Fabricante, according to Orange County Sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino.

The surviving victim called 911 to report that she had been struck by the train and "didn't know what happened to her friends," Amormino said. Deputies searched the area and found the bodies of a young man and woman. Their bodies were dragged about a quarter of a mile down the tracks, investigators say.
