M.I.A.'s 'Only 1 U' Punctuates Rapper's Continued Political Mood

Still In A Mood

M.I.A. wants you to know she's still in a political mood, and you're just going to have to deal with it. Her latest song, "Only 1 U," might sound like a softer side of the rapper, but instead it's a continuation of the themes with which M.I.A. has surrounded herself since 2010's confrontational album "Maya."

"Only 1 U" premiered on online radio station NTS this week. Rapping about the value of money versus that of humanity, the song boasts the same metal-sounding pandemonium that M.I.A. often uses to form her beats.

There's no word yet as to whether "Only" will be part of the rapper's forthcoming album "Matangi," which is expected to drop sometime this fall. The effort's first single, "Bring the Noize," was released in June along with an accompanying video.
